Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

3/12/10 Harbor Brook-Mt. Elliot

We thought to have an easy day today and chose a loop including the Harbor Brook Trail and Elliot Mtn. Harbor Brook is a pretty trail and one of Kelley's favorites because it closely follows the brook ( many opportunities to get into the water) for most of the hike. It begins from Route 3 near Seal Harbor and we took it to the Asticou Trail. There were small patches of snow but no problems for either of us.

We followed the Asticou to the Map House and from there took the Elliot Mtn. Trail ( a gradual easy climb) to the summit where we had lunch.

We then continued the trail down to Route 3 ( easy gradual descent) and a short walk along the road brought us back to our car. 2 3/4 hours

  1. It's interesting how the rocks in a given area are mostly the same color: reddish or grayish. I'm guessing they are granite?

  2. You would be correct. There is lots of it-mostly gray or pink.
