12/14/10 Giant Slide Carriage Road Loop

We had two days of rain ( lots of it) and were tired of being inside watching it. Decide on the carriage roads thinking the trails would be really wet. We did the Giant Slide loop starting from the Parkman Mtn. parking lot. What a difference from three days ago-all of the snow is gone. But the woods still seem lush and growing. Perhaps from all the rain.

This little tree still has it's leaves while the other deciduous trees are bare.

There were numerous small streams ( many usually dry) and this, of course made Kelley very happy. Temperatures in the 30's didn't deter her from the water.

This loop has quite a bit of variation with some sections having more hardwoods.

Kelley finishing off her half of an apple.

We had a mix of sun and clouds but no rain and a very pleasant walk. 3 hours

  1. Glad that you and Kelley had some decent hiking weather for a change. "Lichen of the day" is a good label; I like those as they all seem unique.

  2. I am drawn to the lichen too but was afraid I was overdoing it.

  4. I think so too. The light was very variable with some dramatic shifts.
