Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

4-17-13 Catherine and Caribou Mountains

Beautiful sunny day in the 50's. We thought, surely the ice would be gone from Dynamite Brook Rd. - and it was. We parked in the new little parking area ( maybe room for three cars) and walked the short distance to the trail head.

The trail was a bit muddy at the start but in pretty good shape. This is one of the first views as you come onto the ledges.

The trail weaves between open ledges and woods

Catherine Mtn.  4-17-13

As you start down the other side of the mountain there is a very short trail on the left ( no markers but a blue blaze on a tree once your on it) that leads to Catherine Cliffs and views from the other side of the mountain

From there we turned and walked back the way we had come

When we reached the trail that leads to Caribou  we took that up. It was a bit confusing at the start as it appears some of it has been rerouted. It's still a nice trail.

It meets the Caribou loop at an open ledge where we like to have our lunch and enjoy the view.

After lunch we went a short distance on the trail but soon turned back toward our start

On the way down we met a woman on the way up and had a nice chat about trails and photography. She was the only person we met on the hike.  A nice 3 hour outing.
