Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

6/5/13 Ducktail and Partridge Ponds

Beautiful day- 60's, sunny, and breezy to keep the bugs down. We started from the Ducktail trail head ( which is not our usual route) to see if we could find the crossing of the brook and continuation of the trail. This  trail starts out a little steep  with fairly dense woods and is quite pretty.

Waiting patiently

I found a spot I could cross the brook by jumping some large boulders but it was impossible for Kelley. But there was still the pond to enjoy.

Ducktail Pond  6-5-13

Kelley enjoying the pond ( for penbayman )

We walked back to the car and drove to the Partridge Pond  trail head. We met a crew working on the trail and asked about the Ducktail crossing and they had not found it either. We continued on to Ducktail and then back out and on to Partridge Pond

Kelley liked that pond too

On the way out I found another butterfly I don't know- but will submit for ID

A very nice 2 and 1/2 hour hike.

    1. Hi Grace - it was a beautiful day-about perfect for us. I belong to an organization that I submit butterfly pictures to and they identify them and add to their data base. http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/

Boo on the rain- but they are often wrong.
