Beautiful sunny day in the 70's. We usually just do the trail from Walker Ridge Rd. to the summit and then back the way we came. We have also done the whole loop a few times. Today we would try a new route using woods road to the short trail up the mountain, then down the other side, on a trail I hadn't seen, to part of the loop and back. I had a problem with photographs so there are only a few of poor quality. There were very few deer flies which was a relief.

On a previous hike we finally found the short trail from the road- it had taken us going down the trail from the top to find it. There is no sign and it looks like a blocked old woods road with a small stream down the middle of it.

There are no views from the summit even though you will read that there are. There was, at one time, a fire tower and would have been views then. In this picture of Kelley having a break you can see a remnant ring of the tower.
We looked for the trail down the other side but could not find it and took the regular trail back down. This is mostly wooded and quite pleasant. We rarely meet anyone on this trail but today met a couple and their child coming up. They had collected a goodly amount of mushrooms. The first part of the trail had little water that Kelley could get into but there was more coming down a good amount in Bartlett Stream near the end. In spite of there being little water, Kelley was enthusiastic throughout and especilly liked meeting the other hikers.

70's sounds like perfect hiking weather. I love finding the geological markers. We find quite a few when we geocache.
