Finding Trail Descriptions

So as not to repeat myself excessively, I am reducing the amount of description of trails that have already been posted. Please use the search function ( upper left) to find older posts which have more detailed trail descriptions and pictures. You can also use this to find specific hikes either by trail or mountain.

4/1/16 Kenduskeag Stream

50's but dreary clouds and rain forecast. The trail along the Kenduskeag starts 3 or 4 miles from home and follows the stream to downtown and then the stream empties into the Penobscot River.  Can't find a descent map.

The stream was higher than usual and flowing swiftly. There is usually a sandy bank here.

Kelley didn't go out very far as she doesn't like swift water.

Another spot Kelley usually goes in

but not far today

The stream from the bridge that crosses it

I couldn't get close to them but they look like pussy willows - Spring!

Heading back

A pair of Mallards in a small stream

Kelley found a small pool along the trail that she liked.

We managed to get in an hour and a quarter without rain - it came later. Kelley was a bit lethargic today but was happy to meet a couple of people. Supposed to rain again tomorrow and then a chance of snow Monday night.

  1. You made me chuckle with the comment about the pussy willows. I guess we all have those telltale signs we so look forward to. I heard the Spring Peepers yesterday. But bah-it's snowing as I write this. Mother Nature can be such a tease!

    1. Hi Sue - we had snow forecast but now it's removed - still saying lows of 12 and 13. It's been up and down here - yesterday it was 60
